Grunge Alley Map from Pink Umbrellas Love Rainydaze |
Pink Umbrellas Love Rainydaze is a collection of grungy short stories from Seattle that are inspired by true events. This map is from the front page of the book. The numbered sites feature locations from stories in the chapters, and the black stars are the locations music venues of that time.
Grunge Alley is a phrase coined by the author to describe the dozens of live music venues that occupied the downtown corridor from the Seattle Center to the Kingdome, and from Interstate-5 to the waterfront during the 1980s - 2000.
This is a partial list of the music venues in Seattle. Dozens more were located immediately east of Interstate-5 on Capitol Hill, and north in the University of Washington community, or U-district.
